A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Bloem is the Dutch word for flower. Growing up Dutch just outside of Holland, Michigan, flowers have always been a big part of my life. From the tulips that fill the town each spring to Tulip Time and the Dutch traditions that surround us, flowers have always felt like a natural part of where I’m from. I’ve always loved how flowers can brighten someone’s day, bring people together, and make a moment feel a little more special. I think that’s why I’ve always been drawn to them—and now, you’ll probably find me thinking about flowers most days!

I’m a local teacher by day and a flower girl by… well, also by day! Bloem is something I get to pour my creativity into outside of the classroom. I love arranging flowers, growing them in my own garden and helping bring someone’s vision to life. I love when a client sends me inspiration pictures and we get to turn those ideas into something real. Seeing it all come together on the actual day is one of my favorite parts.

Right now, you’ll find things like zinnias, dahlias, cosmos, and more in my current garden, with plenty of new flowers on my list for next year.

My faith is a big part of who I am. I’m so thankful for the blessings the Lord has given me, the people in my life, the creativity He’s given me, the opportunity to teach, and now the opportunity to build something around flowers that I truly love.
